About our Founder
Kobe Clouthier was born and raised in Boise, Idaho. During early adolescence, he fell in love with the outdoors. Working his way through Boy Scouts to the highest rank of Eagle, he gained valuable knowledge of the outdoors, much of which influences his designs today. Competing in sports all his life, he moved to Mississippi State University to study architecture and compete in track and field. After four years in the southeast, he moved back west to finish his degree and complete his masters at Washington State University. While in school he started KCD and quickly grew the company with his first project Hill House. As a person with diagnosed autism spectrum disorder, Kobe sees the world from a different perspective than his peers, in design, this is a super strength and aids in his ability to create innovative designs. He fell in love with architectural design quickly and appreciates the aspect of it’s ability to affect how people live and perceive life. ”To create shelter is innately human, to perceive beauty is uniquely human. To bring the two together is magical.”
